Jay Patterson grew up in Nashville, TN and attended Middle Tennessee State University.  Besides being a musician in Nashville, he worked at WTVF Channel 5 as a Cameraman covering news and worked on such intellectual shows as Candid Camera and Hee-Haw. 

     Jay worked for ABC News in Washington for 29 years and has covered news of all kinds for World News, 20/20, Nightline and Good Morning America among others.  He has an Emmy, DuPont and a Peabody for news coverage. 

      He covered the White House and traveled on Presidential Campaigns for President’s George Bush Sr., Clinton, George W. Bush and Obama, As well as Senators Dole, McCain, Gore and Obama.  He has flown on Air Force One and followed Presidents’ around the world.  He went to war in Panama, Desert Storm, Bosnia and Haiti.  

     Jay retired from the news business in December 2011 after a long career that started in 1977.  He accepted a position as Program and Media Manager for Membership Services for the Supreme Council of the Scottish Rite for the Southern Jurisdiction in 2012. In 2017 he went back to the White House for CBS News and other networks.

     He currently works at Colortree Group of Richmond, Virginia as Director of Government and Media Affairs.
